Dublin Night Run: All You Need to Know Beforehand

The next Dublin Night Run takes place on September 29th in Park West Business Park and continues along Grand Canal. Walkers, joggers and runners of all levels are welcome to take part. This event is one of many night runs being held in Dublin over the coming months and has become a popular event within recent years.Runners can decide to do the Dublin Night Run either as a 5km or a 10km run depending on the distance that they are most comfortable with. There will be a number of water stations available to those running the 10km along the course. Every participant will be presented with a participant medal at the finishing line by the event organisers and sponsors. This is one event that aims to promote an individuals’ passion for running and helps to encourage people to set personal fitness goals for themselves that they can be proud of.With any running event, it is important to make sure that you are taking the proper precautions in terms of training and nutrition. The following advice will help to ensure that you will be fully prepared before the Dublin Night Run:

  • Make sure that you are wearing proper footwear and comfortable clothing while running. Wearing incorrect footwear that doesn’t have the support that you need while running can prove to increase your risk of developing an injury during training or the run.
  • It is important to always warm up before you go for a run. Whether this is by stretching or jogging lightly, it will help to loosen up your muscles and prepare your body for more strenuous exercise.
  • Keep hydrated before, during and after a run. Drinking water before and during will give you energy while running. After the run, it is vital to re-hydrate in order to replace any fluids lost.
  • If this is your first time training, take it slowly and gradually. Give your body time to adjust to increased levels of training. As the weeks go by, you can tweak your training regime to suit your improved levels of fitness.
  • Eat well in order to train well. Fuelling your body before a run will provide your body with the energy that it needs. Make sure that you are eating a balanced diet of protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats during the week.
